Upcoming Events
Please join us Monday, February 20 for the conclusion of our Bordeaux series with Len Rothenbern, Federal Wine & Spirits’ resident owner, expert, and raconteur.
Monday, February 20, 2012 at 6:00pm: Bordeaux, the Right Bank
For reservations, please call Journeyman at 617.718.2333 or email meg@journeymanrestaurant.com
$95 covers the seminar, 8-10 tasting wines, 3-course family-style dinner, and 1 glass of regional wine to enjoy with dinner (tax and gratuity not included).
These Bordeaux nights will follow the same format as our Burgundy dinners: a seminar, featuring Len Rothenberg’s encyclopedic and opinionated wisdom alongside tastes of 8-10 wines, followed by a family-style 3-course meal with a glass of regional wine (additional pours of the tasting wines may also be available for an additional fee).
Bordeaux is divided into two parts, the Right and Left banks. On Monday, February 20th, we will focus on the Right Bank, the large area to the east of the Garonne River. On the Right Bank, Merlot is the king of grapes, and the best-known regions of the Right Bank are St. Emilion and Pomerol.
Although no prior wine or geography knowledge is required to attend these seminars, this will not be a wine 101 sort of class: the subject is far too interesting for that.
Journeyman is always on the lookout for more unique events to take part in away from the restaurant. Collaboration is underway with Harvard University’s Food Science Lab, plans are afoot to host dinners with some of our favorite brewers, wine makers, & chefs, and we are always happy to hear proposals for other excellent events.
Private Events
Journeyman is available to host events for small and large groups. For small groups up to 8 people, we ask that you make reservations by phone and let us know what the occasion is. For larger groups, please understand that we will have to alter the way we run the restaurant to accommodate you. We may be able to arrange to close the restaurant for your event, to reserve the restaurant before or after normal service hours, or to prepare a custom menu for your group. We can offer an array of options for food service, from our signature tasting menus for smaller groups, to family-style multi-course feasts, to formal buffet for larger groups.
In addition, with sufficient advance notice, Journeyman can offer a variety of foods to be shared among small groups. These include: porcelet/suckling pig, whole primal cuts of pork, beef, lamb, or veal from one of our favorite providers, whole lobes of foie gras, and other unique preparations.
Outside Events
Journeyman is also pleased to be able to participate in fundraising and community events, such as the Union Square Main Streets community events and fairs, RESPOND Inc’s fundraising Gala to support domestic violence survivors and their families, Oldways’ Whole Grains Council awareness program, Bulthaupt’s Chef Dinner Series, New Center’s “Beyond Bubbie’s Kitchen,” and more. We will post here, on the blog, and the mailing list when we will be participating in a festival or fundraiser.
